HUAYHUASH

Duration: 9 Days / 8 Nights

Quenual Adventures Day 1: HUARAZ – LLAMAC - JAHUACOCHA
We will take our bus. The trip takes approx. 4:30 hrs. to go to the South of Huaraz to the lagoon of Conococha (4100 m) taking the detour to the left to go down to the village of Chiquian, short break then continue until the town of Llamac (3300 m) where we wait our muleteers with mules to start our trek of approx. 7 hours climb up to pampa Llamac (4 300 m) to then descend to the Lake from Jahuacocha (4200 m). Our camp is here.

Day 2: LAG JAHUACOCHA – CUARTELHUAIN
Breakfast very early to begin our trek of approx. 7 hours along a gentle slope along the Gorge to reach the Lake of Solterococha (4250 m), then ascend to cross the pass of Sambunya (4750 m) being able to appreciate the mountains of Ninashanca, Rondoy, Yerupaja and others. Then we descend and reach the camp at Cuartelhuain (4100 m).

Day 3: CUARTELHUAIN– LAG CARHUACOCHA
Breakfast. We started our trek of approx. 7 hours, this day we go through the step Cacananpunta (4700 m) then continue along Mitucocha and return to ascend to the pass of Carhuac (4650 m). We will have a panoramic view of the mountains Jirishanca, Ninashanca, Rondoy and others. Then get to the camp of Carhuacocha (3900 m).

Day 4: LAG CARHUACOCHA – HUAYHUASH
After breakfast, we began our approx. 7 hrs. trek, we will descend to visit the lagoons of Ganrajanca, Siula and Quesillococha then we will ascend the Siula pass (4800 m) enjoying the view of several mountains then again descend to camp Huayhuash (4300 m).

Day 5: HUAYHUASH - VICONGA
After breakfast is finished we start to our approx. 5 hrs. trek ascending gradually to the passage of Portachuelo de Huayhuash (4650 m) from there we can see part of the Cordillera Raura. Then we start our descent into the lagoon Viconga (4300 m), this day we can take a refreshing bath in the Thermo-medicinal baths of Viconga, this will be the place for our camp.

Day 6: VICONGA – GUANACPATAY
We have a very early Breakfast to start our approx. 6 hours trek. We climb the pass of Cuyoc (5000 m), from here we can appreciate the main mountains of the cordillera Huayhuash as Siulá, Yerupajá, among others. Then we descend to the camp of Guanacpatay (4250 m).

Day 7: GUANACPATAY - HUATIAC
After our breakfast we will start to our 7 hours trek down to the village of Huayllapa, where we will be able to stock up on food or things that are needed to. Then we will continue climbing to camp Huatiac (4300 m). From here it will observe the Diablo Mudo mountain.

Day 8: HUATIAC – LAG JAHUACOCHA
After taking our breakfast is time for our Trek of approx. 7 hours crossing the pass of Tapush (4800 m) and Yaucha pass (4800 meters) to descend to Jahuacocha Lagoon (4200 m) where we will camp and watch the mountains Hirishanca, Yerupaja, Carnicero and others.

Day 9: LAG JAHUACOCHA – LLAMAC – HUARAZ
It is the last day of our trek, we will have our farewell breakfast to start our trek of approx. 5 hrs., ascend to Pampa Llamac (4300 m) from where you can see for the last time the Huayhuash mountain range. Then we will descend to the village of Llamac where after a brief rest, we will take our bus to Huaraz.
